About Me

I am Dr. Ashish Kumar, an Environmental Researcher and Engineer specializing in advanced membrane engineering, environmental nanotechnology, and resource recovery. I hold a Ph.D. and M.Tech. in Environmental Science and Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, and I am currently a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Departments of Chemical Engineering, University of Arkansas.

My research centers on engineering next-generation membranes utilizing high-performance functional materials. During my doctoral work, I focused on fabricating heteroatom-engineered graphene electroconductive membranes and filters for sustainable water and wastewater treatment. This work established novel single-step synthesis techniques for multifunctional graphene materials, resulting in two granted patents, a successful technology transfer, and numerous high-impact publications across leading journals in ACS, RSC, and Elsevier.

At the University of Arkansas, my work expands into leveraging advanced membrane processes for critical minerals recovery (such as lithium extraction from aqueous streams). Beyond publications, I regularly share my findings at premier international venues, including the Gordon Research Conference (GRC) on Membranes and the IWA ecoSTP Conference. Driven by scientific rigor, I aim to translate material innovation into scalable, energy-efficient solutions for a cleaner, resource-secure future.
